Meet Julia

Hi, I’m Julia Bashore.

I’m an elementary school teacher with ten years of experience in Richmond, Virginia. Though I considered pursuing a PhD in child psychology after getting my Master’s from Virginia Commonwealth University, I just couldn’t wait to get in the classroom! In addition to teaching fourth grade, I’ve served as our school’s lead history teacher and a district social studies curriculum developer.
My goal is always to instill a love of reading and writing in my students, since these two things bring me so much joy. I’m a firm believer in incorporating the arts across all content areas, and I love to see the creative magic my fourth graders conjure up each year. When not teaching, I love running, riding horses, traveling with my husband, cooking for family and friends, and writing and illustrating stories of my own.
