I created One-Room Education drawing on my experience as a credentialed teacher, homeschool mom, and former homeschool student. Every lesson, every blog post, every item in the shop was created with families like yours in mind.

We’re here because we believe real education happens when people connect, challenge ideas and grow together. Below, you’ll meet the individuals who shape the content, voice and vision of One-Room.

Dr. Mary Cochron - 2025 - One-Room Contributor

Mary is an education measurement specialist with nearly two decades of experience in teaching, assessment and educational leadership. She’s passionate about helping homeschooling families take the mystery out of tracking learning progress, making assessment clear, approachable and truly useful. As the founder of Metimur LLC, she brings the tools and strategies usually reserved for school systems into the hands of everyday parents who want to guide their children with confidence.

Whether she’s helping students find their voice through writing or blending history with storytelling, Julia’s mission is to make learning joyful, meaningful and alive.

Cedric Davenport - 2025- One-Room Contributor

Cedric is an experienced English teacher and ESL educator who’s spent over a decade working with students from elementary through university, both in the U.S. and abroad. Passionate about language, connection and what education should be, Cedric brings a global lens and a critical eye to the changing landscape of learning. At One-Room, he writes with honesty and heart, inviting others into the conversation about how we can do better, for students and for each other.

Known for her love of storytelling and proficiency-based instruction, she brought language learning to life, sometimes literally, while leading student trips abroad. Now working in digital marketing, Kelly continues to contribute through freelance writing and research, bringing her humor, insight and global perspective to the One-Room team.

Francis is a Constitution-focused homeschool dad, lifelong learner and passionate advocate for teaching critical thinking through American history. With lived experience, self-education and a firm belief in personal liberty, Francis designs courses that connect America’s founding documents to real-world application.

With experience supporting students in and out of the classroom, including youth who had dropped out of school, she brings deep empathy and lived experience to every conversation she starts. Now the founder of Dream Media Marketing Agency, Mikaela blends her passion for connection with a mission to empower others, especially teens navigating ADHD and neurodivergence.
